To retrieve the part stuck in the clock we had to bore a hole through the wood and slate some distance above then climb inside tower insert a length of rope tie it to the damaged part and then with a lot of man power we hauled the very heavy part out of the clock and lowered it to the ground.

The weather cock itself fell to the ground leaving a deep imprint in the grass.
