A monochrome photograph (160mm x 54mm) with inscription "The 'G A B Smile' Lt G A Bentinck MC Clashmore 1916". Lt George Alexander Bentinck, Royal Scots, son of the town's minister, was awared the Military Cross for gallantry. The Town Council presented an address on vellum to Bentinck at a public meeting as a mark of gratitude. (see 'A History of the Royal Burgh of Dornoch' page 112)
