This postcard was produced by Anne Baxter of Golspie and Tain in 1979 for Spinningdale Stores, of which I was owner from 1978 to 1983. The old mill produced oak wood pirns for the spinning mills of Lanark. The name Spinningdale is an old Norse or Viking name which existed long before the mill was built. The mill burned down probably when some of the sawdust caught fire, quickly spreading and gutting the building.
