This Murray family worked for the Dempster family in many capacities for generations. John Mackenzie Murray was born cFebruary 19, 1857 at Skibo Lodge to head gamekeeper Donald Murray (chr Feb 2, 1817 - Feb 14, 1865) & his second wife Jean Munro (Feb 25, 1826 - Apr 19, 1873). After the death of Donald Murray, the family moved. The widow Jean Munro successfully managed Ardallie, home farm to Skibo Castle, until the Dempster family sold the estate in 1872, at which time she retired to a small house at Proncy. John Mackenzie Murray married Anita Salmor & emigrated to South America according to family stories.
