I am wondering if this may date to a few years before 1907. If you compare this photo with photo No: 262 which shows the opening of the new Club House in 1909 John Sutherland looks a lot older as does Arthur Ryle. Maybe 1883-1890s? -

This is clearly in August 1906. Literally just after the Vardon Braid match, was the 30th Annual Tournament at Royal Dornoch. Young Gordon Simpson seated defended his 1905 victory in both the Silver Medal and the Carnegie Shield.
