I think "Miss Rubishaw" ought to be "Mrs Robichaud" who lived at Oversteps, Dornoch.

It is " Mrs Robichaud "; I can vouch for that as a Dornoch-born person who, as a boy, received the gift from Mrs Robichaud of 3 famous volumes of Stobart's histories of Rome, Greece and Egypt. Comment left on 02 November 2010 at 17:44 by William Wickham.

Which one is Mrs Robichaud? There are six leaders but only four names.
I was admiring the lovely painting of Mrs Robichaud "On the Shore at Dornoch" in Aberdeen Art Gallery recently.

Comment left on 04 November 2010 at 12:51 by Alison McCall I believe that Mrs Robichaud is the 4th adult from the left (sitting next to Miss Davidson (3rd left) with Miss Strachan on the her other side (2nd left). The 2 ladies sitting 5th and 6th from left have not been identified Administrator

It is Mrs. Edith Catherine Robichaud. She was born Bradshaw or Broadbent, the latter being the name used by her on two marriage registrations. She first came to reside in Dornoch after her 1895 marriage to William Llewellyn Hacon when he built Oversteps as their new home. Her second marriage was at Oversteps itself in 1918 to a Private Robichaud of a Canadian Army specialist lumberjack battalion. She adopted two boys who I believe were reared mainly in Dornoch. My wife and I hold a considerable body of information from our researches on this fascinating and enigmatic woman which we hope to publish in the near future. She will be a major component of our future story of Dornoch.

So nice to see a 1931 photo of my Mum, Christine Johnstone and Auntie Rhona Johnstone. Mum was a teacher at Embo in the early 1950â€™s until her marriage in 1953 to my father, Raymond Hadley. She then moved to Dudley in the West Midlands. They met when Dad was stationed in Dornoch with the RAF in 1942. Rhona qualified as a pharmacist but tragically died in 1951 in an accident in Edinburgh some 3 weeks after getting married. Mum died in 1966.
