Monochrome photograph of Willie Calder's father, Don Calder, who was Clerk of Works to Andrew Carnegie. He passed down to his son, Willie Calder, some of the history of Skibo. Willie wrote "Calder's Skibo" in the 1950s.

This is my great-grandfather! I have never seen a photo of him before but knew right away because he is the spitting image of my father, also Donald Calder, b. 1916, Dornoch.
His grandfather was a cabinetmaker, carpenter, mason who, I understand from the historian at Skibo Castle and my Dad, headed up the carpentry of the renovation of Skibo Castle under Andrew Carnegie. He lived on the castle estate until his death. William, my father's uncle, was a historian who wrote, among other things, the history of the Skibo Castle.
