Black and white photo of kilted soldier wearing a slouch hat, sent as postcard to A.Innes, Wallace Street, Dornoch from Folkestone in 1915. Card (written in pencil) reads: "3686 - 1/5th Seaforths B Coy Highland Inf.... British Exped Force 1/5/15. Dear Andrew, I'm writing this as the train runs on with us towards Folkestone. Willie Hugh holds one window while I hold the other. B Coy is in grand spirits - what do you think of our service dress? One might think the hat suggestive of the Dardanelles, but I think it is France. Au revoir yours (signature illegible, possibly Billy Grant). (In different hand) best... W.H.
