Black and white photograph of a lady, in 16th century costume, handing a dead chicken to a man. Stall with rabbits etc visible behind, plus several onlookers in 1920s dress. Apparently taken during the cathedral's septcentenary celebrations in 1924. Written on back: "? centenary celebrations of Dornoch Cathedral. Fete held in cathedral square 192? Mrs Menzies Blarich Rogart, a stall holder, handing a chicken to Dr MacLachlan, Provost of Dornoch. Tita Sutherland at right."

Mrs Menzies was Janet née Middleton (1872-1953) wife of Captain James Menzies (1871-1943). Jessie, as she was known, was born at Omarama sheep station in New Zealand. Her name crops up frequently in the Northern Times in reports philanthropic endeavours in the county.
