This badge is awarded to competitors with the top 25 scores in the final of the St.George's Competition, then at Wimbledon and after 1900 at Bisley. The St.Georges ranks second after HM The Queens/ Kings Prize in individual competition. It currently is a three stage competition. First stage at 300 yds with the top 300 scores going through to the second stage at 600yds. The top 100 shot the final at 900 yds. The winner of each stage is awarded a bronze and enamel cross for the first stage. Silver and enamel for the second and gold and enamel for the final, each cross has a raised figure of St George and the Dragon. The badges are awarded to the top 25 with the year date.

In recent years all 100 in the final get a badge but an additional gold border marks the top 25. The winner holds a large silver trophy of St.George and the Dragon for the year. In earlier times they also received a "dragon" cup which they retained. These do appear on the market from time to time.
