I would suggest a couple of amendments:
(1) The street is Saint Gilbert Street, not Gilbert Street.
(2) Based on information from Brian Munro, this photograph was taken in 1928 (not 1900) at the time of a visit to Dornoch by Donald Ross. In 1900 the house would probably have looked like the photograph at 2001_254 (picture #264). However, according to point 6) of the manuscript notes at 2006_218 (picture #2173), the conversions shown in the 1928 photograph would have been made soon after 1900: at the end of that year Donald Ross sent his parents $2,000 out of his earnings from his first job in the US, at Oakley Country Club near Boston MA. His parents used the money to improve the house, which they subsequently renamed "Oakley Cottage".
