
Watchmaker's ear piercer
A watchmaker's ear piercing set in two parts. The ear piercing implement is of stainless steel consisting of an outer casing with shaped socket at one end to fit under the ear lobe, and an inner plunger which pushes a coarse needle into the socket. The outer casing has curved finger grips for holding the implement while the plunger is pushed. The second component is a small bottle (empty) which held anaesthetic for ear piercing. It has a paper label printed in red: ETHYL CHLORIDE Net Weight 30 grammes LOCAL ANAESTHETIC FOR USE WITH SIMPLICITY EAR-PIERCER. Prepered (sic) by: BENGUE & CO LTD, Mount Pleasant, Alperton, Middlesex. MADE IN ENGLAND. The neck of the bottle is angled and has a metal mechanism for delivering a small application of anaesthetic to the earlobe. A containing box (picture #1917) completes the set.
