The sizes are numbered from 10 up to 50. The disc has a hole in the centre and below this is the maker's stamp: METRIC STANDARD MAINSPRING GAUGE GEO. PANTON & SON LIMITED GLASGOW. At the top of the disc is a brass thumbscrew with graduated markings which operates a small caliper mounted on the surface of the disc. The gauge is wired to a display board: the back was not inspected and it has not been marked with its catalogue number.
