The second to last gentleman on the right is my 2nd great-uncle (my great grandfather's brother). His name was Thomas Murray (b. 1889). He is the son of Thomas Murray (1847-1828), who was born and raised on Embo Street and Margaret Sutherland (1848-1930), from Kildonan, daughter of Alexander Sutherland, crofter, and Isabella Matheson. When Thomas and Margaret married, they moved to Clyne, where Thomas and his other 9 siblings were born and raised. Thomas’ grandparents lived and died in Embo Hilton, Dornoch . They were James Murray (1802-1873) and Marion Munro (1805), crofters and both born and raised on Embo Street. Thomas Murray, pictured above, still has a daughter who is alive. Her name is Annie Murray, nee Gagle. She lives in Homer, Alaska and is 94 years old. Thomas’ oldest brother was my great-grandfather. His name was James Murray (1875-1931, Embo Hilton, Dornoch ) and was the head lock keeper of the Caledonian Canal, Clachnaharry, Inverness. His only son, Thomas Murray (1905-1989, Clashmore, Dornoch) emigrated to the United States in 1929. - Many Thanks, Elizabeth Sutherland Murray Comment left on 24 June 2019 at 17:31 by Elizabeth Sutherland Murray
