Digital copy of a handwritten extract from the Inverness Advertiser 24th August 1860 titled Melancholy Fatal Accident recording the capsize of a boat on the River Kyle near Bonar Bridge with the loss of 6 of the 12 people en route to the Free Church Sacrament at Creich. The account highlights the bravery of Donald Urquhart who saved six lives, including 3 at once, before exhaustion overcame him. His efforts are all the more poignant when those lost included his own father and sister who were buried at Kincardine on the day of this published report.
