
Commemoration of 80th Anniversary of D Day
Article with colour photographs in the Northern Times published on 14 June 2024 covering the Historylinks Young Curators participation in the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy on 6th June 1944. The members of the Young Curators dressed up as World War 2 evacuees and gathered at Dornoch War Memorial along with others. A lone piper lead a march to Cathedral Green where they were joined by members of other youth organisations. A short open air service was held by the Reverend Simon Scott, Priest in Charge at St Finnbarr's Scottish Episcopal Church Dornoch with the Sutherland Lord Lieutenant, Neil Dalton Chairman of East Sutherland Rescue Association and Cath Macangus Provost of Dornoch in attendance. The bells of Dornoch Cathedral, St Finnbarr's and Dornoch School rang out for five minutes.
