A5 size Order of Service - Commemoration of 'The Nancy' 17th September 2023. The Nancy sailed from the Dornoch Firth to New York with emigrating families from Sutherland on 17th September 1773. The reverse of the Order of Service provides basic details. The 250th Anniversary of the sailing was drawn to the attention of Historylinks Museum by Professor David Bell, son of Jimmy Bell a founding member of the Dornoch Heritage Society, who by chance came across a reference to the Nancy in his father's papers. This discovery revealed that during the voyage 80 passengers, predominately women and children died. . A Service of Remembrance organised by the Museum took place at Dornoch Beach car park at 2 p.m. 17th September 2023 culminating in the laying of flowers in the Dornoch Firth by East Sutherland Rescue Association.
