Hugh Munro was born on 9 January 1898 in Skelbo, Dornoch, Scotland. He was a Private (240714) in the Seaforth Highlanders and was killed in action in the First World War on 7 September 1917 near Ypres, Belgium. His official age is given as 23 years old, but his actual age was 19 years. He is buried in plot IV.F.22 in Bard Cottage Cemetery.
He is remembered on the Dornoch War Memorial.
