Copy of a black and white photo (late 19th/early 20th century?) of 3 adults outside, in a garden: the older woman (Miss Munro?) seated in centre, holding knitting and knitting needles on her lap, with man standing to the left and woman to the right of her. The photo is accompanied by a letter with embossed address: ELMBANK, DORNOCH, SUTHERLAND. The handwritten date is 3/6/63 and the handwritten letter reads: "Dear Mr Robertson, I’m enclosing a photo of the teacher we had in our one room school. She is the old lady in the centre with the knitting pins. It may not be of any use but as I had one, I thought of letting you know. Yours sincerely, ?. M. Macdonald." In the top left corner, in different ink is written Miss Munro (Barbara) & Mr Mackay (Hector) writers of bk on Dor.

Items were in a used brown envelope printed with ON HER MAJESTY’S SERVICE, with handwritten notes on the front and split economy label (for envelope re-use) on the back with the address of the Dornoch Academy Head teacher and part of a postmark.
