A monochrome photograph mounted on blue card, showing Mr & Mrs Peter Murray with a child (mother of Ray MacDonald) at the doorway of their home at 4 Sutherland Road, Dornoch.
A daughter, Lily Murray b 1898 to Peter and Margaret Murray was lost at sea in Malaysian waters in 1942 whilst serving with the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Nursing Service onboard SS Tanjang Penang.
Her elder brother Cpl Angus Mackay Murray 51st Battalion Machine Gun Corps, son of Peter and Margaret Murray, was killed-in-Action on 21 March 1918 aged 25.
Both are commemorated on the Dornoch War Memorial and in the Roll of Honour which may be accessed from the Historylinks Museum website.
