A rare Irish regal half penny 1696. Found by a metal detectorist at Skelbo steading, Dornoch and possibly signifying an Irish presence at Skelbo during the reign of William III (of Orange). Obverse bears the king's head facing right, and the inscription "Guillelmus III ..." and the reverse has a crowned Irish harp and the partial date "..96."
