Covid-19 Vaccine Astra Zeneca information leaflet
Tenth in a series of information documents relating to the Covid-19 pandemic, a copy of an Astra Zeneca information leaflet provided to vaccination recipients. The leaflet includes relevant explanatory details and information on possible side effects.
The vaccination programme initiated in Dornoch in January 2021 was with the Astra Zeneca vaccine. The procedure was very well organised with individuals in established priority groups, by age and any underlying health reasons, receiving a telephone call from the Dornoch Medical Practice calling them forward to attend the West Church Hall at a precise time for vaccination. On arrival at the back entrance to the Hall a volunteer checked the time of appointment and, with due regard to social distancing requirements, controlled entry to the Hall. Following a check of personal details on entry, there was prompt direction to one of four or five vaccination stations, well spaced within the hall. Once vaccinated by a nurse the recipient was directed to exit the hall by the front entrance. For those driving home there was advice to wait in their car for 15 minutes before embarking on their journey. The same process was followed for a second injection c 12 weeks later. The Pfizer vaccination, which was also approved at this time, involved more complex logistics because of the need for storage at -70C and it was not used in Dornoch until the booster vaccination process started in October 2021
