Letter dated 24 January 1815 to Mrs Rose
A handwritten letter on two pages dated 24th January 1815 sent from 119 Charlotte Street, Bloomsbury, London from WA Ross to his sister
To Mrs Ross Care of Mr J Ross or Rose Merchant, Dornoch
The contents read
" Dear Sister,
Your letter to Mr D M Ross I did not receive till 19th inst. By it I was truly glad to see that you and your children were well. I hope they be a comfort to you by being dutiful and willing to learn. I have been remiss in not having written to you oftener, but indeed I have been very much engaged. I shall be extremely happy to hear from you as often as you can make it convenient to write, and altho I shall not have much to say in return, I trust that will not prevent you from writing, in your next letter let me know what the Boys are learning – as we have now, Peace with America, can I do anything for you in enquiries respecting your brother, or in forwarding letters to him. I am frequently in the city and I shall feel a pleasure in doing it. I have nothing else to add at present but with my best wishes for yourself and your family I remain your affectionate brother."
