Five page extract from 'A Highland Regiment by E A Mackintosh MC - Lt Seaforth Highlanders' published in London by John Lane, The Bodley Head, New York: John Lane Company, MCMXVII'. The book of poetry is dedicated: "To The Officers and Men of the 5th Seaforth Highlanders and especially to Major A L MacMillan who is and will be to me as to all the rest The Major for ever". The 5th Seaforth Highlanders were recruited in the Dornoch area. This extract includes the poems: 'Christ in Flanders'; 'The Waiting Wife', ‘A Creed’ and 'In Memoriam’. The latter is dedicated to “Private D Sutherland killed in action in the German Trench, May 16, 1916, and the Others who died'. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission certificate in respect of Pte David Sutherland, 5th Seaforth Highlanders who died on 16 May 1916 and is commemorated at the Arras Memorial can be viewed at picture #14200
