A baker's oven pyrometer from a dismantled Macrea's bakery oven. This was found during extensive 2018/9 renovation and extension of the Dornoch Stores. The 90mm diameter glass fronted dial of the pyrometer is enclosed in a substantial mount of 156mm diameter and 80mm thickness which was embedded in the oven wall. A 120 mm square back-plate is a further 90mm beyond the dial mount, with four corner fixing holes, used for securing the pyrometer to the internal oven wall (overall thickness of 170mm). The temperature sensing probe extends a further 600mm into the oven. The glass fronted dial face has numerals anti-clockwise 0 to 7 providing measurement in hundreds of degrees Fahrenheit, and lettering with detail of the makers 'David Thomson Ltd, Engineers, Edinburgh' inscribed below PYROMETER.
