The photo could be from the 1970's. The second lady in the top row is Mrs Hayward. The man at the left of the front row is my uncle, Robbie Mackintosh who lived with his wife Isobel at Cluaine, Evelix. They retired and renovated the original house there. Isobel (Campbell) was the daughter of the man responsible for building the original Post Office and House in the square. Isobel ran the Post Office, when she and Robbie got married, and my father (Tosh) took it over from her in the 1930's, until he left it in the late 60's. The brothers (Robbie and Eoin) came to Dornoch from Dufftown to work in the bank. I'm not sure which one. They lived, as did many other young men, in what was affectionately known as "Tramp House" in Castle Street. Its actual name was, I think, Cheadle House. It's now the Dornoch Bookshop (I'm almost sure, but could be wrong!). Comment left on 17 July 2022 at 17:56 by Richard Mackintosh
