Burgh correspondence bombing range
Document bundle of 10 pages of correspondence concerning the establishment of an air firing and bombing range at Dornoch Firth. The first letter from the Mercantile Marine Department, Board of Trade dated 21 Feb 1936 seeks any observations by the Town Council to the proposal. Subsequent correspondence from the Air Ministry concerns the introduction of Bye Laws for the Tain Air Gunnery and Bombing Range. A subsequent letter of 7 September 1939 from the Air Ministry notifies the Town Council that, following the outbreak of war, restrictions on the use of the Tain Bombing Range on Sundays and Public Holidays were to be lifted. This was rapidly followed by a letter of 8 Sep 39 with the necesssary amendment to the Bye Laws The final two documents are copies of the printed Bye Laws dated 1938 and 1940,
