Child's metal tricycle that belonged to William James Jappy born in Helmsdale 1898. This was passed to his son (who later became a Police Constable) and used in Glasgow. It was then passed to PC Jappy's daughters and and played with in Tongue and Bonar Bridge during the 1960's and 1970's.
The front wheel is 310mm in diameter with pedals mounted on centre spindle. The wheel is grooved and had a solid rubber tyre now missing. The rear wheels are 275mm diameter and have worn rubber tyres.
The seat is coiled metal with a leather covering and both it and the handlebars have nut adjustment for height.
The handlebars appear to have had covered handholds.
The metal pedals freely rotate.
