A large 50 x 40 cm WW1 portrait photograph of three soldiers in uniform which has been delicately enhanced in charcoal to provide a more defined image. The soldiers are in Seaforth Highlanders uniform, The Lance Corporal on the left is unknown but in the centre, seated, is Dannie McCulloch (Golf professional) and on the right Willie McCulloch (Butcher Grants of Dornoch). The photograph wss removed from its wooden frame which was woodworm infested.

It is most likely to be Thomas McCulloch b.1897 who was killed at Beaumont Hamel in 1916. These were 3 of 5 brothers in the army. D.G.(Danny or Dannie was such a good shot as to be a sniper. Comment left on 09 April 2018 at 21:45 by Andrew McCulloch
Three sons of Donald and Jessie McCulloch(nee Murray)of 9 Carnaig St., Dornoch. On the left, Lance Corporal Thomas McCulloch, b.18.11.1893, Reg. No. 1013, who served in the 5th Bn., Seaforth Highlanders.He was K.I.A. at Beaumont Hamel, Nord, France on the 13th of November 1916, aged 23.
Seated is Corporal Donald Grant McCulloch, b.1.4.1888, Reg. Nos.,717, 5527 and 267271, he served in the 5th and 6th Bns. Seaforth Highlanders.Donald was awarded the Military Medal and Bar for gallantry displayed between 21-26 March 1918 (LG 2 Aug.1918), whilst serving with 6th Seaforths..
On the right is William McCulloch, b.22.11.1889, Reg. Nos.,719 and 240145 who served in the 5th Bn. Seaforth Highlanders.
