A Carnegie Anthology
Dark green linen covered book 'A Carnegie Anthology' arranged by Margaret Barclay Wilson, Privately Printed, New York, 1915, pp260. Opposite the title page is a monochrome studio photograph of Andrew Carnegie with a bottom centre inscription 'November 25, 1914'. The first inside cover page has a handwritten inscription "Presented to Rev James Fraser St Andrew's Dornoch". The anthology is dedicated to Andrew Carnegie and, as described in the Introduction by the arranger, its origins were in a Carnegie Year Book, a typewritten collection of quotations from his works. Thus the quotations appear under day headings for the complete year and they are complemented by relevant photographs. At the end of the book there is 'A Collection of Portraits of Mr Carnegie' pages 185 to 243, starting with one of Andrew Carnegie in 1851, at the age of sixteen, with his brother aged 10 and studio portraits spanning the years from 1861 to 1914. A Bibliography p 245-248 is followed by a comprehensive index of all the quotations.
