Photocopy of a seven page extract from a book 'Highland Records of 93rd Sutherland Highlanders now 2nd Battalion Princes Louise's Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders' compiled and edited by Roderick Hamilton Burgoyne and published by Richard Bentley & Son, London, 1883. The extract provides a copy of the cover page, Preface and Index of the book and pages 45 to 51. Page 45 provides in summary a "Return of casualties in action with the enemy near New Orleans on 23rd and 24th of December 1918" and *th January 1815. More detailed records are provided on pages 46 to 51, with listing of officers Killed, Wounded and Missing, followed by a table recording non-commissioned officers, drummers, fifers and privates of the 1st Battalion 93rd regiment of foot "who died etc" during the month from 25th December 1814 to 24th January 1815. The list of casualties provides detail of rank, name, place of birth, trade, 'How became non-effective' and 'Place where and day on which became non-effective'. There are entries for soldiers from Dornoch, Rogart, Creich, Golspie, Clyne and Lairg. It is of interest to note that some casualties died of wounds on board a hospital ship and HMS Bedford, with a Private William MacKay from Lairg, the last entry on the list, recording that he died of wounds while being evacuated "on bd. the Fanny at sea 4 April 1815"
