Extract from Northern Times 'From Our Old Files 50 Years Ago' (August 5, 1966) recording that the 11ft hight standing stone at Ospisdale, on the East Sutherland trunk road between Bonar Bridge and Golspie was broken on Sunday 31 July 1966 about 2 feet from its base It was believed to be as a result of being struck by a passing vehicle, which caused it to fall across the road.
