From the ‘Gillespie Collection’ of monochrome prints from glass photographic plates, a view of the school building on School Hill Dornoch. This school became redundant with pupils transferred to Dornoch Academy. It then became the Dornoch Social Club. The wing shown on the left of the photograph became a social room with television and with its open fire became a cosy meeting place for Dornoch residents, especially the young. The part on the right of the photograph, with arched door, became the Scout hall and was totally enclosed and separated from the large main room to the left, extending beyond the wing on the left. It housed billiard and table tennis tables. In the 1990s the Dornoch Social Club was taken over by the Dornoch and District Community Association (DADCA) and formed the venue for a whole range of community activities not least the Dornoch Cinema Club
