I think these two ladies are sisters who travelled up from the London area every year and stayed in the Burghfield hotel, golfed nearly every day and cycled everywhere.

The ladies were highly eccentric spinster identical twins, the Misses Macleod. Their home was in Cambridge and they holidayed in Dornoch every year for 50 years. Something of their family's very long association with the burgh can be gleaned from items number 3114, 5317, 5318 and 5319 of this image library. They stayed each year at the Burghfield and Niall Currie had a fund of entertaining anecdotes about them.
