Extract from the Northern Times of Friday May 29, 1960 of any article 'Coast-to-coasters go the extra mile' reporting 52 classic cars taking park in a coast to coast tour organised by the Rotary Club of East Sutherlnd on Saturday 23 May 2015. The classic cars ranged from a 1929 Austin 7 to the latest Jaguar F type entered by the main sponsor Macrae and Dick of Inverness. Departing from Dornoch in the morning, the cars had a coffee stop at Oykel Bridge Hotel before travelling on to Ullapool Pier where most drivers sampled the fine fish and chips at the renowned Seaforth Restaurant. Many also took the opportunity to explore the lifeboat which had sailed down from Lochinver. The return journey took in tea at the Muir of Ord distillery and the event was rounded off with a lively ceilidh at the Dornoch Social Club where prizes were presented. The RNLI and Macmillan Support for Cancer were the main beneficiaries of the event which raised well over £10,000
