Life of a Mansion - Andrew Carnegie's NY home
Book (155 pages) with the title 'Life of a Mansion - The Story of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum' by Heather Ewing, published by Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in 2014. The mansion, which Cooper Hewitt now calls home, was the groundbreaking 2 East 91st Street house built for Andrew Carnegie. It was groundbreaking in its location, far from the then fashionable New York, as a catalyst for development, giving rise to the neighbourhood known as Carnegie Hill, in its design with modern steel-frame, its spacious landscaped garden and in its technology. The book with numerous monochrome and colour photographs covers all aspects of the mansion and reference to Andrew Carnegie's Skibo Castle, Sutherland. In the latter context, page 19 shows a colour photograph of the Skibo grounds for the family's Christmas card, with attribution to Historylinks Museum included in the 'Photo Credits' at page 106.
