Extract from the Northern Times published on 5 July 2014 reporting the concerns regarding the future of Carbisdale Castle and its considerable art collection as a result of the current owners, Scottish Youth Hostels Association, placing the castle on sale for offers over £1.2 million. The Treasurer of Creich Community Council, Russell Taylor is reported to be investigating whether the castle's deed of transfer to SYHA stipulated it must be used as a youth hostel and if there was any intimation of what should become of the art collection. He said he would welcome the sale of the castle to a hotel group.
