
Bronze Age skeleton found wrapped in sheepskin
An article, with accompanying monochrome photograph, published in the Northern Times of Friday 6 September 2013, with the title 'Bronze Age skeleton found wrapped in sheepskin'. A prehistoric burial site was discovered by accident in September 2011 during the construction of a septic tank at Spinningdale. GUARD Archaeology were summoned to investigate and confirmed the site as a Bronze Age burial cist containing a skeleton. Next to the bones there was the remains of a sheepskin that may have been wrapped around the body. The article reports that through Historic Scotland's Human Remains Call-Off contract, in August 2013 the results of this investigation became available in Archaeology Reports Online, a free internet journal.
