
Xmas Greetings from the front 1918
Colour postcard produced for servicemen serving in the Lines of Communication in France to send Christmas greetings to colleagues at the Front and those at Home. The colour drawing shows Britannia, with arms outstretched to two servicemen, standng on a plinth bearing the wording 'France' and beneath 'Lines of Communication' . Above Britannia there is a radiant orb with wording 'Greetings' and within a scroll 'To Those at the Front' & 'To Friends at Home. There are surrounding drawings of an Army vehicle, an engine, soldiers at the front and an army blacksmith working alongside a masted steamer. In small print beneath the balastrade on the left is the inscription 'Etab Vercasson, Paris' and on the right 'Sapper J Coyle RE'. The 'From' scroll at the foot bears the handwritten name Gordon Tewsley and on the reverse there is the handwritten name Jeanie Matheson.
