First of 17 Treasure Trove objects from Balloan, Dornoch found by metal detection and acquired by the Inverness Museum & Art Gallery. A copper alloy circular frame buckle with a central bar. The latter shows traces of ferrite staining, indicating an iron pin. Such buckles appear to have been used both a spur buckles in the late medieval period and in the 15 and 16th centuries as shoe buckles.
