A cheque drawn on the North of Scotland Bank Ltd, Dornoch dated May 5th 1947, made payable to 'The Postmaster General' in the sum of six pounds fifteen shillings 3d. The cheque is crossed 'A/c Payee' which signified it could only be redeemed at a bank and not transfered with personal encashment by signature endorsement on the reverse. The cheque bears the two pence stamp duty and has a bank presentation stamp on the front dated 12 May 1947 and on the reverse a 'Postmaster General for Telephone Manager' endorsement stamp.
