Inveran Hotel has a lot of musical history in the area. The Inveran power station is built on the site of the hotel. Read 'A Highlander Looks Back' available online - for more history on the area. Comment left on 27 October 2012 at 22:52 by IAIN URQUHART

I had the good fortune to meet this Highland Gentleman, Mr Angus MacPherson, of Inveran, on the occasion of the Northern Meeting, 1973-4 Piping Competition held in Inverness at the Pipers Caleigh.

Angus MacPherson was in his 90s then.

From a piping friend, John Teggart, Armagh Northern Ireland.

I have a photo dated 1944 of Angus MacPherson sitting on a wooden bench outside his hotel playing a tune on his chanter to the late pipe major Willie Ross youngest grand daughter who was aged 1

The date of the photo can’t be 1960 if the hotel burned down in 1949? Comment left on 07 November 2022 at 20:59 by Fiona Newton Thanks Fiona, the image will be updated. Administrator
As per one of the comments: June 4 is my birthday! I am Angus Macpherson’s Great Granddaughter. It must be me in the photo! I’m also interested in the day book. I have a visitor’s book from the Inveran Hotel. Not sure what to do with it. Re the comment about a photo of the late Angus MacPherson sitting on a wooden bench outside his hotel playing the chanter with a tiny child on his lap yes Ur right it was not 1960 as I am now aged 80 & the child is of ME (pipe major Willie Ross,s youngest grand daughter) the hand writing on the back of my photo is that of my late mother Cecily __ stating it's ME taken around 1944 .
