Thirty-ninth of a selection of 50 objects from Dornoch Scottish Women's Rural Instuture archives 1926 to 2011: Extract from the Northern Times of November 1931 recording that 12 candidates were standing for 6 council places in Dornoch and to the surprise of many 4 of them were women. The account questioned "....what do they know about lighting, water, drainage and housed schemes, and the hundred and one other business propositions which come before a public body like a Town Council?" "Ratepayers! Your money is at stake. See you elect members who know how to handle it in your interests"
Postscript: Miss Mould was elected to the Town Council in the 1931 elections.
