Tenth of a set of 10 colour photographs of the remains of Embo fishing boats beached at Loch Fleet, in the bay on the western side of track from the southern pier at Little Ferry to the old level crossing at Skelbo Station. The boats were burnt by the Embo fisherman at the end of World War 2 when fishing was no longer economic.

My grandfather was William Cumming who had a fishing boat at Embo in 1912 and in that year was awarded the Stanhope medal on 21 Feb 1912 for saving the life of a fellow fisherman.

Thank you for your reply regarding my grandfather. I actually have the medal and certificate that he received for his bravery of which I am really proud. Your clipping is very interesting.
