Colour photograph of a statue of Donald Ross, (golf course designer who was born in St Gilbert's Street, Dornoch) that stands in Pinehurst Village, North Carolina, USA. Starting in 1895, the Tufts' family created Pinehurst Resort from virgin pine forest, building Pinehurst Village and also developing the rest of the resort. Donald Ross was engaged from 1900 to design several of the golf courses there, including the renowned "Pinehurst No. 2". (see picture #11909 statue at Pinehurst No, 2 course)
