Seventh of series of seven colour photographs taken in June 2011 showing the Mercat Cross site following the removal of the granite bollards and seat and reinstatement with paving, more in keeping with the general honey-coloured sandstone of the principal buildings in Dornoch, and black metal bollards of a modest size serving to protect the area from car parking.

This would be hilarious if it wasn't such a disgraceful waste of money and in such a historic and sensitive location. The granite things were hideously inappropriate, and no archaeology the first time round - how did the planning process go so badly wrong?
