There are so many questions that spring to my mind when reading about this project.
Did any heads ever roll because of this scandalous misuse of public money? Were the views of the Dornoch community consulted in the planning of it? Were sketch plans and other important details published in the local print media for comment? Was the intention to use "Made in China" granite made clear before the work started? Was the actual construction work put out to tender? Were local masonry companies encouraged to compete in the tender bidding process? Was the tender bidding process fair? etc...
Here in Africa, my new home, we are flattened daily by the "Made in China" economic steamroller. I never for a moment thought that it was already clanking its way into Dornoch.
