Monochrome photograph of the Opening of the new Dornoch Academy by the Queen Mother. With the Queen Mother are the Rector, Mr A. Robertson and pupil Josephine Grant, daughter of Mr Pete Grant and Mrs Seona Grant (nee MacDonald). Also in the photograph is the Rev William MacLeod Minister of Dornoch Free Church and Provost of Dornoch.

It is nice to see this photo of me handing over the flowers to the Queen Mother but it would have been even nicer if you had got my name right! Presenting the flowers is Josephine Grant daughter of Pete and Seona Grant formerly of Bridge Street. Please correct spelling of my mother's name too! I was thrilled to be asked to present the flowers and I had to practice doing so with Miss Strachan taking on the role of Queen Mother! (Also Headmaster was Alan Robertson)
