Comments:
The unknown is not Malcolm Mcintosh. I know Walter Wickham was a chemist, was William also a chemist?

Donald Booker-Milburn (born 20/5/1940 and died 29/5/2012) had a distinguished career in the legal profession and his obituaries in the Glasgow Herald and Scotsman on the web make interesting reading. Perhaps posting copies of these on the Museum's web site might keep them safe for posterity.
I would guess the boys in this photo are aged about 9 or 10 years and knowing that Donald Milburn was born on the 20/05/1940 this photograph must have been taken in the late 1940s or early 1950s.
I knew none of these boys as a child even though they are my exact age group. I attended Embo primary school and they must have attended Dornoch Primary. I do however remember some of them from later years. I also remember a bustling, impressive and tweed suited Mrs Milburn who I think used to live in a large house just North of the Dornoch Hotel in the mid 1950s. I assume that she must have been Donald's mother.

Strange, Malcolm thinks the unknown is Malcolm Macintosh and remembers the party but not why he got the cup. For the record he retired from the Bank of Scotland where he was a manager for many years. William Wickham was not a chemist but his career would best be described as " economist and author"

My comment should have read 'is that not'

I can confirm that Walter Wickham was a chemist and that William (his brother in the picture) was not a chemist. Agree with Hamish's description that William was an economist and author.
